Match Report - 09 Nov 2008, Bracknell Town Ladies FC Bracknell Town Ladies lost to TNS & Shrewsbury Town 1st Rd Proper FA Cup
The Robins fine unbeaten run stretching back to March 2008 came to a sudden halt when coming up against a strong TNS Shrewsbury Ladies outfit from the Midlands Combination League.
The weather conditions were less than favourable but both teams worked hard to entertain the hardy souls who braved the wind and rain.
TNS started brightly and opened their account in the 4th minute when Cox was chipped from outside the penalty area after the Robins had conceded possession in the middle third. TNS passed the ball well but the Robins hard work upset the rhythm of their more senior opponents for spells throughout the half. Unfortunately, the Robins were unable to carve out any clear goal scoring opportunities.
TNS extended their lead after a good passing move which culminated in an excellent strike into the bottom corner of the net past the valiant attempt of Cox to save. TNS added a third goal shortly after to lead 3-0 at half time.
The second half saw Bracknell come out of the blocks in a determined mood, working hard to deny their opponents time on the ball. However, TNS managed to work another opening to add a 4th goal to guarantee the victory. This was very quickly added to a couple of minutes later whilst the Robins were trying to regain their composure.
Encouragingly, the Robins continued to work hard to try and get something out of the game. They continued to press and created a couple of chances, the clearest of which fell to Elly Maggs who forced an excellent save from the TNS keeper. TNS created several other chances one of which saw Cox make an excellent save to her right.
The Robins next game sees them welcome Slough Ladies in the second round County Cup this coming Sunday.
