The Robins opened their 2008-09 FA Cup campaign with a comprehensive victory over a hard working Marlow Team.
Michelle Turner gave the Robins a boost with the opening goal 2 minutes after kick off. A long kick from Sarah Cox was helped on by Danni Wheadon. Turner controlled the ball well and beat the advancing keeper by knocking the ball to one side of her and running the other to finish in style. Turner came close to extending the lead with another well struck shot which brought an excellent save from the Marlow keeper. Elly Maggs also had a good opportunity that she fired narrowly over the bar following a good through ball from Wheadon.
The second goal arrived in the 20th minute from the boot of Kim Lockyer which took a deflection to wrong foot the keeper.
Angie Barton hit the post with an excellent header from a Suchley corner before Turner extended the lead further with a good header from a Jen Patterson free kick.
The Robins continued to press and were awarded a free kick from wide outside the penalty area. Suchley fired the ball into the box where a scramble resulted in Maggs gleefully striking the ball home from 6 yards. The Marlow keeper showed her class when she pulled off another outsatnding save from a well struck free kick from Wheadon.
The second half saw the same pattern unfold with Bracknell controlling the game, limiting the home side to the odd breakaway none of which posed any real questions for Sarah Cox in the Robins goal. We had to wait until the 63rd minute before Bracknell scored their 5th goal which came from the boot of Suchley whose free kick from outside the box flew into the top corner of the Marlow net. 2 minutes later, Turner got her hat trick after getting the final touch from a Barton strike following a corner. 5 minutes later, Elly Maggs was crudely challenged in the box for a penalty which she placed into the right side of the net for 7-0.
Marlow scored an excellent goal which brought them some reward for their hard work in the 78th minute.
Bracknell Town Ladies now face Chippenham Town Ladies in the next round of the competition on 12 October.
