Match Report - 03 Aug 2008, Bracknell Town Ladies FC Bracknell Town Ladies beat Bisley
The Robins kicked off their pre season fixtures with a comfortable victory away to Bisley Ladies. The squad for this game saw the introduction of some new faces to the club all hoping to create the right impression in order to be added to the playing staff for the coming season.
The starting eleven bore few surprises with the exception of having no recognised keeper available, so newcomer Jen Patterson volunteered to take the shirt for the first half.
The opening moments of the game saw Bisley apply some early pressure and win several corners from which they were unable to test Patterson. Bracknell settled down and started moving the ball more fluently and the nerves were quickly settled when skipper Libby Suchley picked up a loose ball on the edge of the box and beat two defenders before sliding the ball past the Bisley keeper on 18 minutes. Two minutes later Michelle Turner picked up a loose ball after Emma Constable was felled in the middle third. Turner progressed into the box and passed the ball into the net. The same player scored her second and the Robins third on 24 minutes when a cross from newcomer Emily Campbell found her in space. Turner struck well to leave the Bisley keeper floundering.
Bisley forced their way back into the game on 40 minutes when they scored with a spectacular strike into the top corner leaving Patterson no chance. However, the two goal lead was regained when an excellent cross from Chrissy March found the head of Turner who finished in style for her hat trick.
The start of the second half saw 5 changes to the Robins line up with Jen Patterson playing in midfield rather than in goal, Caz Gardner and Sam Barrie coming in as full backs and Emma Turner and Lis Easton taking the wide midfield berths. It wasn't long before the fifth goal came along courtesy of a Libby Suchley free kick following a foul on Emma Constable. Suchley's free kick almost found the head of the diving Constable, the ball striking a defender before nestling in the back of the net. A further change saw the introduction of Sarah Chapman in place of Tasha Boyle at the heart of the defence. The back line remained on top for the most part with the odd Bisley foray being dealt with by Sarah Cox in the Robins goal. The final word lay with the hard working Angie Barton who scored from outside the box, the bounce deceiving the Bisley keeper.
Many positives for the Gaffer and Carlos to take on board especially from the performances of those who were playing in unfamiliar positions. All in all, a good workout and lots to look forward to in the coming weeks.
